Wangdue Phodrang

Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag (district/state) is a land blessed by magnificent scenic beauty. One of the most prominent sites in this Dzongkhag was a century old fortress, Wangdue Phodrang dzong (1638-2012) which stood dramatically on hilltop overlooking the Wangdue valley. The Centaury old architectural wonder was razed to ashes by the devastating fire on 24th June 2012. Today the country is making an effort to bring the lost icon in its origin.
